International Arbitrations
Overview
Major financial disputes are increasingly being held in domestic and international arbitration forums. The Covid-19 worldwide pandemic has allowed arbitrations to continue and flourish via remote video conferences rather than in-person hearings. Arbitration-focused counsel and experts alike have the ability to pivot from commercial and federal court rules to arbitration rules governing key facets of the case including memorials, document productions, interrogatories, experts’ reports and testimony.
CHS has significant experience as financial experts in major international arbitration assignments pursuant to ICC, UNCITRAL, and LCIA rules. Our Principals have also given expert testimony on loss quantifications throughout the world including Canada, USA, Caribbean, UK, and Singapore. Our arbitration casework has involved post-acquisition disputes, breach of contract, and NAFTA (now USMCA) claims and has spanned many industries including steel, tungsten, petro-chemicals, pulp and paper, agriculture, auto parts and financial services. In addition, our large-scale Canadian commercial court work has resulted in several of Canada’s largest damages awards in patent infringement and civil fraud cases.
